Beyond... Three little dots like a promise. An invitation. An escape.
The eighth edition of the Pont de Claix International Biennial of Non-Objective Art. And still the same conviction: Here, art is not a supplement to the soul. Not a worldly pastime. Even less a decorative showcase. Here, it stirs. It shifts. It forces us to see differently. That's why we care about it.
Since 2011, this biennial has been built on a simple idea: To bring to life, in the heart of a working-class city, a free, demanding, rigorous art. We owe this idea to Roland Orépük, artist, curator, passionate and tireless initiator of this adventure. Roland left us last year. But he remains there, in each work that hangs, in each gaze that pauses, in this quiet requirement that he transmitted to us: To make Pont de Claix a point of support to look further, beyond.
This edition is also the first co-organized with the Aropano association, which continues the work initiated by Roland. A natural, living transmission. The story continues.
Under the direction of Tilman Hoepfl, nearly twenty artists from all over the world are occupying the Moulins de Villancourt today. To invent new narratives, off the beaten track. Painting, sculpture, installation, performance: Everything blends together. Everything confronts each other. Here, abstraction is not a luxury. It's a tool. A tool to counter the saturation of images. To create breathing spaces in the noise.
